3rd Puts the Spotlight on a what a real BFL brother is all about.

WILKERSON WILKERSON WILKERSON

As many of you know I try to put together an article about the state of the BFL, at the end of each BFL season well this year I plan to do just that.  However I thought I would do something a little different this year. I want to spend some time talking about a dude who will always be the dude, that we are looking for when we are looking for a dude…..I know I know what the hell is he talking about.

One of the many things that I find wrong in the world is people only honor you or speak well of you at your funeral.  That should not always be the case, we should also make an attempt to speak of the good a person does while they are still here.  I want to do just that today, I want to speak about how it takes so many people to make the BFL (GO) things don’t just happen overnight somebody has to do some of this ISH.. One of the guys in this league that helps it run like a fine oiled machine is Donnie Wilson, Donnie is one of the type of brothers in our league if your car broke down at 3am he is a guy you call to come and pick you up.  (Of course if it’s not during the season).  No really he is the type of guy that would have a hard time telling another BFL brother no, he is as passionate about this league as any brother and in many cases more passionate.  Nobody could ever say that guy does not have love for the BFL.

Often times many people will say they love the league and they love the brothers. However Donnie does not give lip service to the BFL. The brother puts in work, just how he puts in time perfecting his game he puts in time with the brothers and the BFL. Many times we forget what people do for the league, I want to recall a few things I remember about this brother.  When we would play at city hall in downtown Atlanta many nights we would not have enough TVs to play the games.  Brothers just would not bring the TVS like they were asked.  I had a good reason (when I would come home at night and take the TV out of my truck the law thought I was stealing it) man I got tired of explaining Madden to those dudes every Friday night.  In an effort to make sure we could play and have a productive night Donnie would bring 2 and sometimes 3 TVs on Friday.  For those of you who did not know these were the old skool big back TVs.  The kind you had to have balls to move.

There have many other things this guy has done for the league, from computer repairs for brothers, helping out guys who were down on their luck. Planning events in his home so the brothers could come and fellowship, Donnie has done a lot of things to support and build up the BFL.  There have been many other brothers who have gone beyond the call of duty as well.  Perhaps the next time I put pen to paper I will speak on some of those guys. However today I am talking about Mr. Wilson. I admire two things about this brother.  The 1st is I never hear him complaining about what he does for the league.  Currently he is setting up and tearing down the TVS and systems when we play at the Bull Pen. This is not his responsibility it’s belongs to all of us.  However we often come down ready to play and expect to see TVS and 360’s ready to go.  I have never heard him complain about any of the work he does for the league.  He will just jump in and do what is required and it’s not always the sexy job it’s usually one nobody wants to do. The other thing I admire is his commitment level. If it’s something that could help the league and the Brothers Donnie is all in. I have always liked to surround myself around people who would be committed to something..  I am talking high level commitment. It’s not seen often, many people will commit until things go south then there goes the commitment as well. This is not the case with Donnie. I can recall him spending 1200 dollars of his own money to buy 15 televisions’ and also picking up and storing them at his home until the start of the season. The brother has class and the BFL family of brothers, while we don’t often tell him. Donnie we appreciate you for all that you do for this league and its’ members during the season and off season. Many of our lives are richer for knowing you and we hope you will always have the passion and love for the worlds greatest Madden League…..The Mighty BFL…Keep chasing that Harps Trophy………….
